After the largest hacker attack in the history of the crypto industry, the crypto exchange bybit announced a reward program for the return of stolen funds. The company offered individuals or organizations 10% of the amount stolen by fraudsters as a result of the hack.
If someone manages to return the entire $1,4 billion to the exchange, that person or company will receive $140 million, the largest reward ever for solving such crimes.
We would like to formally thank our community who shared their knowledge, experience and support with us. bybit is determined to overcome the challenges and fundamentally change our security infrastructure, improve liquidity and become a trusted partner for our friends in the crypto community,” said co-founder and CEO bybit Ben Zhou.
A reward of 50 ARKM tokens has already been received by blockchain researcher ZachXBT from the analytics company Arkham. It was he who managed to establish a connection between the hack bybit and the North Korean hacker group Lazarus.
There are already reports of stolen assets being discovered and blocked. For example, a representative of mETH Protocol announced that he had stopped the withdrawal of 15 cmETH, worth about $000 million, and transferred the funds from the hacker’s address to the recovery address. CEO Tether Paolo Ardoino said his organization has frozen 181 USDT related to the hack.
