Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau May Be Replaced by Bitcoin Supporter

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced he will step down as his party faces intense pressure to lose the upcoming election.

Trudeau’s resignation, confirmed Monday, comes after polls showed his Liberal Party was headed for a fiasco, with voters unhappy with high prices and a housing crisis.

Trudeau’s political career has been marked by a tense relationship with re-elected US President Donald Trump. Tensions between the two leaders escalated in late 2016 when Trump threatened to impose higher tariffs on Canadian goods. Trudeau’s attempts to resolve the situation by meeting with him at Mar-a-Lago did not bear fruit.

As for and cryptocurrency supporters, they cannot forgive him for his persecution of the Freedom Convoy in 2022. Using the Emergency Situations Act, he allowed the government to freeze the bank accounts of truckers, suspend their vehicle insurance, and tow their trucks. All of these measures were aimed at stopping blockades and protests that the government considered illegal.

Dissatisfaction with his performance reached a peak during a December meeting with 50 of his party members from Ontario, the country’s most populous province, where many expressed their lack of confidence and called for his resignation.

With Trudeau gone, many Canadians and Bitcoin supporters are eyeing Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre as a potential successor. He has been vocal about his support for Bitcoin (BTC) and blockchain technology, so he is seen as a strong contender.

His rise to power could mean a change in ‘s approach to digital currencies to a more friendly and supportive one.
