US President Donald Trump kept his promise and had mercy creator of the illegal darknet marketplace Silk Road Ross Ulbricht.
Ulbricht was arrested in 2013 and charged with selling drugs, malware, counterfeit documents, and other illegal goods. Two years later, a New York court found Ross guilty of the alleged crimes and sentenced him to life in prison.
Thanks to the elected US President Trump, the founder of the infamous marketplace will be released after serving just over 11 years behind bars, which is also a considerable amount of time.
During the election campaign, Donald promised to free Ulbricht if he won the election. The politician fulfilled his promise by signing an order to pardon Ross and called the criminal’s mother to tell her the good news.
«The bastards who convicted him [Ulbricht] were the same lunatics who recently used the government as a weapon to attack me. He [Ross] was sentenced to two life sentences plus an additional 40 years in prison. This is absurd!» Trump tweeted after showing leniency to Ulbricht.

Ulbricht’s fate has been decided, but the fate of the bitcoins seized from a person linked to Silk Road has yet to be determined. In early January, the U.S. Department of Justice allowed sell the coins, and Arkham platform employees reported that officials withdrew all the coins from the crypto wallet.
However, this information turned out to be false, and the government’s crypto storage still contains are located 69,370 BTC worth $7,3 billion at the current exchange rate, once owned by Silk Road. It is likely that these digital assets will form the basis of the Bitcoin reserve fund that Trump wanted to create.
